I’ve talked about bridal sessions with many of my clients and I’ve found most had never heard of them – which saddens me! They are my favorite wedding photography trick to getting more photos of you in your wedding gear, without having to spend your whole wedding day in front of my camera. Here’s a quick guide on what a Bridal Session is and why I think you should consider it definitely take advantage of one.
What are they
Bridals (sometimes referred to as bridal portraits or day after sessions) are when a wedding couple gets dressed up in their wedding gear before or after their wedding to take photos together.
It’s a customizable concept that can be done a couple days, weeks or months before/after the wedding day and can either be of the couple or a solo shoot of the bride or groom.
Why I try and convince everyone to do them
Bridals give the couple a chance to get a wide variety of dreamy portraits together but also let you fully enjoy your wedding day without constantly having to leave and take pictures.
This allows you to enjoy your wedding and spend time with all of your guests, while still getting those beautiful intimate shots of you and your love that you’re going to keep and pass down through generations.
You can use it as the time to have your “first look” and read vows to each other.
If you choose to have photos taken before your wedding day this can give you an opportunity to have a slow, intentional moment of reading your vows. After the months of non-stop wedding planning and the stress leading up to the day, what better way to approach your wedding than having that clear, committed moment for each other?
You get to take photos together in a more relaxed and intimate environment.
At some venues it can be hard to find a quiet private space for couples to have a moment together (without prying eyes from your guests). Bridals allows the couple to take photos in a quieter, exclusive location where you can truly be alone.
The best reason to have them done
You can have your bridals anywhere.
You get the chance to have breathtaking wedding photos in a different location that might not have been possible on your wedding day. Maybe you wanted to get married in a more scenic location but logistically it just didn’t work out. Or maybe you want the best of both worlds – more traditional wedding day with more of an adventurous bridal shoot. Heck! You can even fly to a dream location and get them done (this is what me and my husband did – a blog post to come on that soon!) The possibilities are boundless.
And if nothing else why not take every advantage of getting to dress up again in your wedding clothes?
Have I convinced you yeeetttt?!
